Complex, Not Broken

My Journey, Healing from CPTSD

Complex, Not Broken is a place where I explore what it means to live with trauma and still choose to rebuild.

I write about therapy, EMDR, triggers, progress, and the everyday realities of living with CPTSD. My goal isn’t to teach — it’s to be honest.

Healing isn’t linear, and neither is this blog. It’s a collection of thoughts, memories, and reflections as I piece together the parts of myself that trauma once tried to take.

A letter to parents…(all responsible adults)

Dear responsible adults

Is there a child in your class that is louder than most.

Maybe they don’t go into school much.

Maybe you find them smoking or vaping during classes outside on the sports field etc.

Maybe they are in a group of friends all that are loud and are maybe looked at as ‘the naughty’ kids.

Do they have ripped trousers and jumpers?

Are the girls wearing full makeup to school?

Have a closer look…

Instead of pulling your well looked after children away from them.

Instead of just assuming they are naughty because they are just born like it.

Ask yourself…

Are those kids hanging around with older kids?

Do they come into school with hangovers or black eyes.

Are they out on the street later than other kids.

Are they online later than other kids?

Are they completely free to post and say whatever they want online?

Is there anger there?

Do these girls have older boyfriends? Are they being picked up by older boys?

Do you unconsciously say to yourself that little girl is a slag.

These girls are children…

I know it’s hard to see past the loud, gobby, angry naughtiness.

But they are children.

Children that are being neglected at home.

Children that don’t have boundaries.

Children that are potentially being taken advantage of by opportunist older men.

What I ask…

Please don’t turn away.

Please don’t just tell them off and punish them.

Please chose to protect them and find out

More.

More about what is happening?

Why they are acting like this?

Because if you don’t…

You can fail these children, and their life’s could be ruined forever.

Myself and my friends were horribly let down by all adults surrounding us when we were growing up.

Everyone looked in the other direction when it was so obvious. In plain sight.

I’m asking… if you are a responsible parent, teacher, adult… just ask these children…

Has anyone older than you spoken to you recently?

Who is that man you are with?

Are you speaking to anyone online that is older than you?

Is there anything you are scared of?

Ask open (not accusing) questions.

These children won’t no what it’s like

To be cared for so expect some

Push back.

But don’t give up.

You could be saving a life.

Remember that for these kids this will be their norm, nowone would have told them it was wrong. So it’s up to you tell educate them.

I know it’s hard to understand what can happen when kids aren’t protected by adults, if you have never experienced it.

But believe me there are opportunistic adults out there and if you aren’t there, they will be.

Love from a girl that was left alone, and nobody came when they came for her.

Xxxx
